So I got in my order of the UGLY comics yesterday. I am pretty excited to start my adventure as being a comic book artist. Endless nights of me crying that I don't get enough sells. Dragging myself to conventions just to beg people to buy my book. Read negative reviews over my work then moan about it for hours with friends.

Sounds awesome.

Well, if you want to buy my comic it's up for sale in my etsy shop. www.etsy.com/listing/74028849/…

There's also a free preview of it on my site: oraculardream.com/UglyPreview.…

Let the moaning begin.

I sold out of my comics that I printed for the con! Pretty awesome huh? it was all so fun, I wish it had lasted a bit longer.

Conventions like these are always really fascinating places to go. Most of the comic book artists are so desperate for money that they'll stare at you with the saddest little eyes for you to like their book. At times people would ask "How I was," though I was lengths away looking through someone else's artwork. I've also learned to not make eye contact with the people behind the booths or they'll see it as a opportunity to try and talk you into buying something.

Ooh and it makes me feel terrible! I'm a art student so I don't have money to buy anyone's pieces. Right when someone starts talking to me I jet off into the opposite direction that way I won't disappointing when I reply negatively to the requests.

There are usually a whole lot of oddies that approach the booth every year but this time it wasn't so bad. Their was a vampire lady that kept hissing at people but I think she was cosplaying so I guess that's ok. Oh! Though there was this one young lady that talked to us for a LONG time. She kept commenting on how we "were people she would be friends with," she sort of threw her comic at us and gave US her contact information to chat with her. Which I suppose in a way makes since but we did not know who she was. What would motivate me to e-mail this complete stranger? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Shouldn't she want our e-mails to talk with us?

Who here will be attending MoCCA?

I'll be there with the School of Visual arts booth doing their slave labor as they roll around in their invisible money. If your unfortunate enough to live in NewYork and have nothing to do this weekend then you should go!

I'll be selling prints: www.etsy.com/listing/69701005/… and copies of my new comic UGLY!

Hopefully, this time, the weird ones didn't purchase a booth. I always feel awkward and embarrassed when creators literally call out for you, "PLEASE! PLEASE BY MY COMIC!" It's that sort of yelling that comes off desperate and you'll probably sell nothing except your soul.

Hope to see you there,

M.A.N

If you want to see me win vote for my design: www.phathom.com/curiositee-ima…

Sort of wish this contest was based off talent and not votes. I'm not good at the whole "popularity," "voting" bit of things. Out of 7 entries I was placed 4th, DER!

Been thinking about artists lately. Suppose that it's all that I can really think about as I try to meet this feisty deadline that's riding up my rear.

"Why do artist acknowledge negative comments?"

Now I don't mean all artists. Some, like myself, really appreciate the comments I get. Yet, I see that artists that reach this sense of "popularity" tend to respond and get flustered over trolls that bite at their artwork. It's only natural to get angry at people who seem to not understand what you do, but should that one person define what you do?

If you already don't have in mind an artist who's done this you probably can't relate well with what I'm ranting about but it's all just so curious to me.

You're walking down in a line of people waiting eagerly for an artist to sign some sheet of paper but the only characters they mention on their blogs are the ones who went out of their way (no exaggeration) to ruin their day. You left no impression, no sense of being remembered? You walk always wondering why you even bothered to begin with. What about that other artist you're always complimenting on tumblr or their personal site? The artist ignored you to scratch at your neighbor who calls their work "shit."

I've also idiotically joined SomethingAwful.com and found that most of the people were cruel. Though people respond to them the most. Why? They WANT the attention.

Suppose that it can't be helped I guess. Secretly I love negative comments. I don't respond, of course, but it does give me a good laugh! Nothing more funny then how WRONG some people are.

Well, well....

Outside my usual rolling around in my tears, noming on left over food parts from strangers on the street, I'm doing pretty ok.

Remember that one T-shirt contest I entered forever ago? Well, it's still going on and it ends on the 15th, only  6 days from now. And because I know I'm the most important person in your life, I'd love for you to vote! If you've already voted you can vote again!

Anyway,

A new print is also available in my etsy shop. It's a limited print so you should go take a look!

My convention experiences usually turn out fairly well. Yet, this time not too much. It's hard for me to say why it went as bitter as it did.

To my surprise once again my preview mini comics all disappeared. Two of my bookmarks also sold also some of my buttons. At this time I thought I'd be extremely relieved yet...

Not so much.

I have yet to get used to the separation between fan and professional. It really is the most belittling feeling to approach artist much like yourself and have them talk to you like their trying to sell the next finest piece of car parts to you. You start thinking that the only reason why some artist are nice to you in the first place is ONLY because you like their work and not because your an human being who might just be trying to make a friend.

I often do feel extremely isolated but this convention really amplified that for me.

Looks like I'll have a few more years in which I'll have friends talk down to me. Others who will tell my that my work is confusing; my art has problems so I should attend to them for help.

Though in good news: I did hang out with some friends and made some new ones so it the parts AFTER the convention were fun.

Hello! So SPX time is slowly approaching and I have much to show at the convention.

www.etsy.com/listing/55829963/… - Buttons for $1 each.

www.oraculardream.com/bookmark… - Bookmark Originals done on Watercolor paper, $20 dollars each.

Free previews of my comics will be available too along with business cards. Hah, the Mini comics were printed with my school printer so it's poor quality but I'm moneyless and it's free! And if you come up and ask me for prints while I am standing behind the booth I'll pull out some of my lovelies and give it to you for free as well!

Anyone want anything from SPX? Sketches, autographs?

Oh yes, and you few should take a look at :iconmooncalfe:'s account. He made Shadow eyes and draws quiet well, far better then me at least. He is also really sweet so pop him a comment and say hello! He won't be at SPX but at NYCC.

Edit: If your interested in Art Stole my Lunch then you may want to follow the A.S.M.L tumblr account artstolemylunch.tumblr.com/ because I will not be drawing all the pages. I'm switching off with :iconimaginetheending: and :iconblu-hue: so all the pages will not be uploaded onto this account and that may be a bit confusing for you.
_______________________________________________
Hello, my lovely few followers! I've been up to a few things lately and thought you inform those who want to know what my future projects are and what is to be expected.

I'm about to upload a picture of a few familiar characters. Not familiar to you of course but I see these characters every day of my life. These special people will in a webcomic called, "Art stole my lunch."

Art stole my lunch: I've been a bit tired of the economic and general frustrations of the comic book world. Yes? Oh yes...I see that glimmer of woe in your eyes you know exactly what I am talking about. Most of the time except appreciating ever moment I have doing what I love I am always crying, sighing or laying down in my bed wondering why "things have to be this way." Most people think this I suppose, but I am so tired...

So :iconimaginetheending:,:iconblu-hue: and I have created a comic about ourselves, our frustrations as hobos. Yes, I said it...Hobos. Art has taken it's tole on our money pockets and we've ended up on the street begging for change from anyone that passes us by. As each page progresses we'll be meeting other "familiar" faces laughing over our circumstances. As depressing as I made that sound it's actually all just jokes. It is what it is nothing more nothing less; just a joke.

So look out for this I'll have the first page up tomorrow. Oh joy...

Drop: This is another comic book I am working on for just sheer mental exercise. I've been wanting to experiment with other drawing types much different then my own. The main characters, you have already seen are here: fav.me/d2wpb1l.
I actually have pages of this done. Yes...I do...but I have no energy to upload it. It may be the whole laying down in bed mentality that I can't seem to get over.

Slave Labor graphics really needs help and their requesting for donations.
www.slgcomic.com/legaldfund_ep…

I deeply respect SLG and the people they work for them. I am willing to open up a art donation in support for them.

I'll draw a sketch for any price over $5. I can even send you the original.

Hm, Honestly...I know that I am not well established and many might consider my request not worth while but I know that supporting them means a lot to me. I've already donated $115.

-Thank You

So you guys see that I've uploaded a lot hm? That would be hard not to notice. It's funny how it seems as though I vanish and then reappear unloading the world on top of you and then expect you to view it all.

Anyway, here's my explanation: I got some criticism over my work about how my work is not as original as it should be. So, I've spent quite a bit of energy trying to find myself. I suppose it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that I then draw a whole bunch of fan art but I don't see that as going backwards but forwards. When I draw these pieces I am trying to perceive their works in my own way. Interpretations are fascinating to me.

Sorry guys,

I've failed you with my pathetic attempts to ever update like I promised. Honestly, I post most of my art on my Flickr account. It makes me feel a bit more comfortable. So, if you guys are curious on recent art that I have updated then please check there or follow up on my Livejournal posts. Much appreciation over the comments, by the way. It's always nice to know that people accept and enjoy your art.

Oh yes and I am currently working on a Comic book. If I can get myself to want to post it up online I'll show it here for you guys to read. Character sheets can also be seen on my Flickr account.

Comic-con is finally over. The thing overall didn't go the way I wanted it to at all! Haha. However, I think maybe I left making some new friends which really was one of the only reasons on why I went in the first place.

Well, I'm going to lay down. Good night. I might write more about it later.
This will be my first and probably last adventure into California to attend San Diego comic con. Excited? I am not sure actually because i'm having a hard time feeling my hands. There's a bit of fear in flying to a place that you hardly know much about driving through the streets pathetically questioning people on where the hell you are and how to get to a hotel.

It's weird because I really am not a type of person who likes to throw herself at people, like :iconimaginetheending:. Getting in line, approaching artist and telling them how much you appreciate their work is just not my thing. They do what they do and that's great but I don't want my words to pass by through their heads to merge with other words that sound just the same. Then go home and realize that in the end you didn't mean anything to them.

But on the contrary realizing that my thought process is highly flawed I have decided to go up to some artist that I couldn't resist to not say hi to:

Jenny Goldberg
Chandra Free
Alex Eckwall
and Jhonen Vasquez.

I will be watching Heather(ImagineTheEnding) embarrass herself in front of many other artists and thin grin and her sweetest attempts to make friends.

Most of all I think I am pretty excited about meeting Jenny Goldberg. Some of her work inspired some of my drawings. And on Saturday I will be hanging out with one of my talented friends :iconcruzbones:. I've been friends with her for 3 years so this should be pretty fun. I am excited down in the depths of how nervous I am.

I will also be seeing Chandra's Panel with Alex and will be attending the MythBusters panel. I am so sad to say that I won't be going to the Kevin Smith panel because it is at the same time. My friend :iconthe-surreality: really loves him and his work.

Anyway that's it. If your going enjoy yourself!
